All time record (52-35)

Playoff record (15-9)

Established in 2017, Air Force was one of the 4 original teams in WOBW. Captained by Andrew Rashad since the beginning, Air Force has had an extremely successful tenure in the league. Air Force has the most all time wins with a record of (52-35). In their first 3 seasons in the league, Air Force made the championship series in all of three of them, bringing back the trophy in 2020, making it third times a charm. Throughout their history the teams biggest acquisition came before the 2019 season when Air Force added Navy standout, Matthew Benevento. Benevento played a huge role in their championship run in 2020 and continues to play a big role for the squad today. Rashad even showed his respect for Benevento contributions when he promoted him to co-captain prior to the 2021 season.  Stephen Luccarelli has also left a mark in Air Forces history. Although Luccarelli does not have the best stats on the team his presence is know through his energy as well as his occasional clutch home runs. Despite their early success Air Force has become one of the more mediocre teams in WOBW over the last two seasons. In both seasons, the Falcons were swept in semi-finals and they have failed to secure top seeding throughout regular season play. With their core from their championship run remaining intact, Air Force will look to find some of the same magic from that 2020 season and add a second title to their name. But more than anything this team is loved for their antics. Led by Benevento and Rashad this team is well known for their entrances and "bling." Whether it be the dinger trident, the dinger mobile, or the dinger chains, Air Force was always loud and proud and you knew when they arrived. The peak of their antics was 2019 and while they're not as flashy as they once were, they are still one of the prideful teams in the league, love them or hate them.

Fun Fact: As a team Air Force has played in the most games and has the most wins. Has also faced Army in every single completed postseason.

All time record (46-39)

Playoff record (13-11)

Like Air Force, Army was one of the 4 original WOBW teams established in 2017. Captained from 2017 to 2020 by Maddox Underwood, Army hit the ground running. In their first year in the league despite an (0-3) start, Army managed to win their final 3 games and grab the third seed in the playoffs. From there they wouldn't look back, Army ran the table that season bringing home the first WOBW championship and despite some turnover in their roster in year 2, they would have the same result in the end. Since the 2018-2019 seasons Army is the only champion in WOBW history to go back-to-back and those seasons are looked back on as a dynasty for Army. A big part of their success was due to superstar pitcher and hitter Alex Benevento, who some refer to as the G.O.A.T. But this dynasty came to an end in 2020. Following a not so successful semi-final exit their were differences amongst players which ultimately lead to the team going its separate ways. Underwood left Army to start a new team, Space Force, leaving Alex Benevento to take over as team captain for the 2021 season. In his first year as captain Benevento created an extremely solid roster, with the dream of taking this Army team back to the promise land. But they fell short in the finals to an up and coming Coast Guard squad. The team would face more issues after 2021 leading Benevento to step down as captain due to his limited availability leaving his squad in the hands of Joey Bucci. Army would have it's worst season yet with a (1-9) regular season record but hope that Alex Benevento will come back to squad and bring Army back to their winning ways.

Fun Fact: Despite their 2 championships, Army has never had the one seed in the playoffs. Has faced Air Force in every single completed postseason.

All time record (11-4)

Playoff record (2-0)

Border Patrol is one of the stranger stories in WOBW history. Established in the Fall of 2020, Border Patrol first participated in WOBW's only fall season. Border Patrol had a very impressive showing with a record of (5-1) during the abbreviated regular season. They went on to clinch a finals berth after winning their semi-finals series. But before they played Air Force in the finals, the season was discontinued due to a wide variety of issues. Border Patrol came into the 2021 season the next year with a chip on their shoulders. Many other teams believed their success in fall league was a fluke and so Border Patrol set out to change the narrative. Border Patrol got off to a mediocre (4-3) start, when they unfortunately lost several players for the remainder of the summer. Team Captain Charles Brossy was left with no choice but to disband the team in the middle of the season. But because Border Patrol only played in 15 games they actually have the highest winning percentage in WOBW history at .733 (11-4). But this achievement does come with a massive asterisk because Border Patrol never played a full season of WOBW despite competing in two of them. The Border Patrol squad was composed of the Captain Brossy, former Air Force player Clete Wheeler and current Air Force player Jack O'Donnell. While Border Patrol's history in this league was the shortest, O'Donnell continues to carry on the legacy of Border Patrol with his stellar performance on Air Force.

Fun Fact: Border Patrol has the highest all time winning percentage (.733) but has never finished a season.

Playoff record (8-2)

Despite only being established in 2021, the Boy Scouts have quickly become fan favorites in the league. The Scouts play a very loose, yet competitive brand of wiffle ball, making them one of the most entertaining teams to watch. The Scouts aren’t afraid to let you know when you make an error and they can be heard from the town over after they hit a home run, which might explain the noise complaint. The Boy Scouts have brought this excitement since their debut in 2021 but it certainly took them some time to get adjusted to the league. The Scouts were off to a miserable (0-6) start to their inaugural season but you could see them slowly starting to put things together. Standout pitcher and hitter Will Bozzella became more accustomed to the strike zone. While Captain Sam Ives and fellow player Will Cosco and Chris Canet began to see the ball much better. The Scouts went on to win 2 of their next 4 before the postseason and even won their quarterfinal series. But that was where their run ended in their first season as they were dominated by a much better Marine team. Despite this the Scouts had built confidence and momentum heading into the offseason. In 2022 they started in a similar fashion as they did in 2021. They were slow out of the gate, starting with a (1-3) record but much of that could be contributed to missing Bozzella. Bozzella rejoined the team for the remainder of the season and they finished strong grabbing the four seed in the playoffs with a (4-6) record. The Scouts stomped on Space Force in their quarterfinal series, and even got revenge by sweeping top-seeded Marine’s in the semi-finals. Setting them up in the finals against Coast Guard who was looking to go back-to-back. The Scouts came out with a great game plan and had some things break in their favor on their way to a shocking championship series win. The Scouts made history with their title becoming the first team to ever win-it-all after having a regular season record under .500. The Scouts had a great one-two punch on the mound between Bozzella and Cosco and a complete lineup with Ives added to the mix. The Scouts 2022 season was a great example of anything being possible and I hope the Scouts will continue to build off this historic season.

Fun Facts: Boy Scouts has won a championship but has never had a regular season record over .500 at any point of any season. Has the highest all time postseason winning percentage. (Minimum 5 games)

All time record (45-17)

Playoff record (10-6)

Established in 2020, Coast Guard became the first ever expansion team of WOBW. It began with Matthew Balkun who came over from Marine to captain the squad and he would go on to sign Henry Cannon from Navy, free agent Reid Brown who last appeared on Army, and rookie Ian Nicholas. Out of the gate Coast Guard was dominant in 2020 going much of the year undefeated and cruised to the number one overall seed in their first year. They were projected to finish second in the in preseason power rankings but no one had expected them to over power teams the way they had been. Their success was mostly attributed to Balkun and Browns performance on the mound. They each finished in the top 4 in ERA by the end of the season. Despite being so new to the league, Coast Guard quickly became of the most hated, if not the most hated team in the league. Coast Guard had a massive target on their back heading into the playoffs and got every team’s best shot. Coast Guard had one of the most electrifying playoff series in the history of WOBW when they took down Marine’s in a close semi-final battle which set them up to face Air Force in the finals. But after two low scoring affairs, it was Air Force that got the better of Coast Guard and became WOBW champs. Coast Guard had fuel for the offseason and after losing Cannon and replacing him with Ben Graham the team was locked and loaded for the next year. They continued their regular season dominance once again in 2021. After a quarter final bye, they faced Air Force in the semi-finals, looking for revenge. They were able to handle the Falcons in a competitive series and advanced to face the dynasty that was Army in the finals. Even though Coast Guard was undermanned and largely being considered underdogs they dominated Army on their way to a title. Coast Guard was even able to keep the squad in tact for the 2022 season but struggled with player availability throughout much of the season. This didn’t affect their record though as they finished (8-2) and the second seed in the playoffs. But the player unavailability finally came back to bite them as they were topped by an inferior Boy Scouts squad in the finals. Coast Guard remains a team no one wants to face and is a possible dynasty if they continue to put together successful seasons. Coast Guard has the highest all time win percentage outside of Border Patrol with a percentage of .717 (43-17). Matthew Balkun has kept his team running as the captain and a superstar. He is regarded as one of the top players of the last few years bringing home the hardware and MVP in 2021 and has even entered the G.O.A.T conversation with Alex Benevento.

Fun Facts: Coast Guard has more all time wins than Marines while participating in two less seasons. Tied with Air Force with most consecutive finals appearances.

All time record (36-42)

Playoff record (3-12)

Established in 2017, Marine was one of the four original teams in WOBW. Captained by Brian Balkun since the start Marine’s has had a very rocky history in WOBW. The first thing that comes to mind when thinking about Marine’s is their lack of postseason success. Twice in league history Marine’s has been regular season champs, meaning they earned the number one overall seed in the playoffs yet they still have zero finals appearances to show for it. In total Marine’s has a postseason record of (3-12) with all 3 wins coming against Navy. As bad as it is, Marine’s has had some bad luck along the way. Prior to the 2020 season right as Marine’s was hitting their stride, player Matthew Balkun, left the team to create his own, Coast Guard. Matthew was an integral part of the team and since his departure their has been a rivalry between Coast Guard and Marines. Matthew even went on to win an MVP award and win a championship in 2021. More bad luck came in 2022 , when their best player and captain Brian Balkun was unavailable for their semi-final series, leading to a loss to Boy Scouts. But one thing to take away from Marine’s is that they are the youngest team in the league. While a majority of the league ranges between the ages of 18 to 21, Marine’s oldest player is just 17 years old. We’ve seen how this team continues to improve year in and year out and that was on full display last season when they finished (9-1) and grabbed the top seed. This Marine’s team has become one of the top tier teams in the league and will certainly be people’s pick to win-it-all next year despite all their postseason blunders.

Fun Facts: Marine finished with the best record in 2 of the 5 completed seasons but still has more losses than wins all time.  Also has never won a postseason game against a team not named Navy (0-12).

All time record (7-37)

Playoff record (0-5)

Established in 2017, Navy is one of just two defunct teams, while also being one of the original four. Navy is definitely has one of the most interesting stories in this league because of how low times got for this franchise. But in the beginning, things were good under captain Matthew Benevento. In the 2018 regular season Navy grabbed the number two overall seed and had a record of (3-3). But unfortunately for Navy, the good days would end here. In just two quick games Navy was bounced from the double elimination bracket making them the first team eliminated, and in that offseason captain Matt Benevento left the squad to join Air Force. In his vacancy, Chris Luchette took over as captain. Unfortunately for him, Navy’s problems were out of his control, and while he did his best to put together a solid roster, Navy would never be competitive again. After the (3-0) start to their franchise, Navy would only win 4 of their next 41 games before becoming inactive. Navy tried multiple different rosters over the next few years which included players such as Henry Cannon, Stephen Lucarelli, Ben Graham, Garrett Ladley and Joey Bucci. But no combination of these players were able to pull Navy out of the bottomless hole that was their franchise. Navy was discontinued after the 2020 season, where they had a record of (2-18). After the season captain Chris Luchette and commissioner Maddox Underwood met to discuss the future of Navy. After a long discussion, both sides felt it was best for Navy to discontinue and for all players to become a free agent.  Players Ben Graham, and Joey Bucci, left for greener pastures signing with Coast Guard and Army. Graham achieving success in the form of a championship with Coast Guard in 2021, and Bucci even being promoted to captain of Army in 2022. While both Garrett Ladley and captain Chris Luchette both decided to take some time off from WOBW. Ladley stayed in retirement while still remaining a part of the league by becoming a manager for Air Force while Chris came back to the league in the 2022 season playing for Air Force. While Navy’s time in the league can be best summarized as a mess, their foolish optimism and persistence should be looked back on as inspirational for many. Players prior to and during the 2020 season constantly uttered the phrase “Whole New Beast” on their way to just two wins in 21 games and the iconic phrase summed up the Navy mentality perfectly. But in total, Navy’s three seasons in the league led to just 7 wins and Navy never finished better than worst in the league, yet their impact on WOBW will forever be felt.

Fun Facts: After winning their first 3 games, Navy would only win 4 of their next 41. Never won a postseason game. Lost league most 17 straight over the (2018-2019) seasons.

All time record (12-21)

Playoff record (0-6)

After Navy disbanded in 2020, there was a surplus of players and a void needed to be filled. That void was filled in the form of Space Force. Created and captained by commissioner Maddox Underwood, who left Army where he had won two championships in his three seasons. But Space Force would be a much taller task for Underwood. He no longer had Alex Benevento to rely on and was forced to build a new team through an expansion draft. In this draft he snatched Luke Bopp from Marine’s and Henry Cannon from Coast Guard. Underwood finished the team off by picking up rookie free agent Joey Generalis. Generalis was the key piece for this team as his riser became one of the hardest pitches to hit in this league. Despite that, Space Force struggled out of the gate going (2-4) in the fall league and losing in the quarterfinals. But Generalis showed great promise as a rookie and in his second season he dominated and Space Force was off to a great start to the 2021 season. Part of this can be attributed to a weak schedule but Space Force was (6-3) led by Generalis. Space Force had a legitimate chance to get a bye if they finished the season strong but unfortunately for them they dropped their last two contests and finished the season (6-5) and got the three seed in the playoffs. Space Force did get a bit of an unlucky draw as they were forced to play the reigning champs, Air Force, in the first round due to Air Force’s down year. The Falcons made relatively easy work of Space Force on their way to the semi-finals. That year would be Space Force’s best year as the following season Generalis lost the strike zone often and never emerged as the dominant pitcher he once was. Space Force finished (4-6) and lost in the quarterfinals once again. But despite Space Force’s postseason struggles and lack of success against the top of the league, Space Force should be looked back on as a home run! Space Force was created to fill the hole that Navy left after their departure and they certainly did that. In 11 less games Space Force has nearly doubled Navy’s all time win total and Space Force has never finished last in the league. Even though Space Force has a low win percentage, they have definitely been a step-up from Navy and has made WOBW a more competitive league.

Fun fact: Space force is still looking for their first postseason win (0-6).
